THERE is a vacancy on Compton and Shawford Parish Council, and villagers are being asked if they want a by-election.
It comes after Tricia Caffyn decided to leave the authority. However, she will be continuing as chair of governors at Shepherds Down Special School in Compton.
If villagers want to elect her replacement then at least ten residents need to make a formal request to Winchester City Council.
The alternative is for villagers to leave the decision with the parish council.
It recently appointed Mike Southgate as a new member, following the resignation of Sarah Clay earlier this year
