RESIDENTS can have their say on a proposed new motorway service area between Winchester and Basingstoke.

It comes after Applegreen announced they intend to build on land adjacent to the M3 motorway at Kennel Farm, south of Basingstoke.

The firm will hold a planning day on September 14 where people can discuss any concerns or questions they might ahead of the proposal which Applegreen say will create 200 new jobs.

Bosses at Applegreen believe that the new facility will not create any additional noise or inconvenience for nearby communities.

Head of Developments UK for Applegreen. Des Stafford said: “We are at an early stage in the development of our approach and design for the site. This is an ideal team to start a dialogue with our neighbours to understand their concerns and issues so we can ensure we address them as our proposals take shape.

“We would like to meet local people to explain face to face about the scheme and reassure them on issues they are naturally likely to have”.

“Minimising our impact on the environment and the landscape is a priority for us and we will deliver this through great design.”

The firm believe the site is suitable for around 245 cars and 22 HGVS or coaches plus caravan and motorcycle spaces, a formal planning application has not yet been made, but this is likely to happen after a full community consultation.
