STREET collectors have been warned not to operate without a license following an incident in Colden Common.

A pet rescue charity, located outside the Co-operative in St Vigor Way, was allegedly collecting a few weeks ago.

The Parish Council was informed by a member of the public after they could find no record of the charity on the charity commission website.

Parish Council clerk, Debbie Harding, said: “Any organisation who is conducting a street collection should have a license from Winchester City Council to do so. It is unclear whether this organisation had a license at this stage.

The Parish Council will pass this matter to the Police and Winchester City Council licensing to investigate.”
