CHILDREN near Winchester have been celebrating new sports facilities with a visit from one of their ex-pupils.
Hampshire County Cricket captain and Old Twyfordian Jimmy Adams officially unveiled the new pavilion, with the help of the head master, Dr Steve Bailey, and England captain David Gower.
Twyford School's new oak-clad sports hall, named after Mr Adams, has a large function room with views across the school fields and surrounding countrywide, as well as changing facilities and showers.
The left-handed batsman cut the blue ribbon, declaring the new hall officially open, before Dr Bailey thanked the several hundred parents who turned out for the ceremony.
Dr Bailey also thanked the anonymous donor who funded the build.
Mr Adams told the crowd about his own school days at the school when he says his passion for cricket grew.
