IT was every duck for itself when crowds gathered at a biannual race along the Weir.

Alresford residents gathered for the charity fundraising event which saw painted wooden ducks mosey down the river, flecking the grey backdrop every colour of the rainbow.

Each prize racer was lined up by Rob Harrison at the bridge, at George Hollingbery’s home Weir House, before they were unleashed.

And the day wasn’t just about finding out who would be first passed the finish line.

The Alresford Pigs Association event saw children take part in hula-hoop competitions, spin plates and engorge on the food and drink served by local stallholders.

There was also a large bouncy castle for the children to frolic on while the race got underway.

Vicki Tiplady, of Alresford Surgery, took home the prize for the first race, which was handed to her by the association chairman, Bill Biggs.
