NORTH Americans won’t be the only people enjoying the fourth of July this year.

The people of Hampshire will have the chance to engorge in some of the county’s finest produce on Independence Day at Sparsholt College as they celebrate the Taste of Hampshire.

Now in its third year, the day forms part of the month-long Hampshire Fare Food Festival seeing some of the county’s leading chefs cook-up a storm.

Set in the Library Gardens, doors open from 10am, with demonstrations from Lainston House’s Andy Mackenzie and Olly Rouse, the Chesil Rectory’s Damian Brown, James Golding of The Pig, Mark Price of River Cottage, and Phil Yeomans of Marwell Hotel.

Events organiser Martin Simpson-Scott said: “Taste of Hampshire aims to encourage people to truly experience locally produced food, to understand its provenance and to be inspired to support this county’s producers.

"This year we are thrilled to have a huge number of Hampshire’s leading chefs demonstrating how to create dishes from locally produced food which we hope will be replicated in homes across the county.

"I hope taste buds are positively tingling at the prospect.”

Tickets cost £4 for adults, children go free, and some activities may have a small charge.

Parking is free on site.
