STOCKBRIDGE residents gathered to support one of their own at a glitzy fundraising ball.

Around 180 people turned out at Stockbridge Football Club to raise money and awareness for local man Alex Lewis - who lost three limbs, part of his nose and lips when a normally harmless bacterial infection saw him hospitalised.

As previously reported, he developed a very rare case of toxic shock syndrome and septicaemia last year.

Last Saturday saw members and supporters of the club raise £7,500 for the Stockbridge Youth Club as well as the Alex Lewis Trust during the Hamper Ball including auction prizes donated by local businesses and other members of the community.

Guests were entertained by London session musicians Soul Rebels, supported by DJ Roly from Andover.

Glenn Curtis, club member, said: "Paul Tickle, football club committee member, has worked tirelessly over the past four months to put the event together and the football club would like to acknowledge his hard work, which has made the charity ball one of the annual highlights of the Stockbridge Calendar."
