A PROFESSIONAL BMX rider took to the ramps with Meon Valley youngsters to unveil £41,000 improvements to their skate park.

Allister Loughran launched the revamped Wickham skate park after new metal ramps and surfacing were installed alongside the existing concrete.

The works were funded by Wickham Parish Council and contributions from housing developers working in the village.

Local youngsters chose the plans from options presented by contractors Evolution.

BMX rider Josh Kerley, from Wickham, helped to design the park. He said: “It is more up to date and much more popular now. Evolution the contractors did exactly what they said they would do.”
