A MODERNISED Post Office is set to open in Alresford next month.

The Southern Co-operative store, in West Street, opens the new service on Friday, May 1, offering longer opening hours and extra facilities.

There will be three modern counters, as well as two-screened positions, open from 7am-10pm, Monday to Saturday, and 10am-4pm on Sunday.

Services include tax renewals, bill payments, banking, benefits, travel money, postage, home shopping returns and Local Collect.

Gary Trodd, Post Office services manager at The Southern Co-operative, said: “The Southern Co-operative is very supportive of the changes as it’s seen as a positive move forward for customers by making the Post Office’s services more conveniently available whenever our store is open.”

The Post Office will close on Wednesday, April 22, from 5.30pm, for refurbishment.

Alternative branches can be found at Ropley, at the Courtyard in Church Street, and the Winchester Post Office in W H Smith in the High Street.

Adrian Skinner, area manager, said: “We know how important Post Office services are to residents in Alresford and we are confident this vibrant modern Post Office, at the heart of the community, will be popular. The modernisation is part of a major Government investment programme.”
