MORE than 140 Stockbridge residents learnt the latest safety tips while tapping their feet at a big band boogie.

Villagers enjoyed food, drink and live music at the Test Valley Borough Council’s Big Band Buffet.

Staff from the fire service, police and Hampshire County Council were on hand to discuss crime, safety and staying warm over winter.

After a dance to the Clive Fortune Big Band, more than 70 residents went home with free carbon monoxide alarms courtesy of the council’s Hitting the Cold Spots campaign.

Cllr Tony Ward, leisure and community portfolio holder at Test Valley Borough Council said: “I’m really pleased that the event was enjoyed by everyone who attended. It was the perfect opportunity to promote key messages about everyday topics that concern older residents.”
