A HAMPSHIRE village is one step closer to multi-million pound works to protect its streets from extreme flooding.
The second phase of the Hambledon Flood Alleviation Scheme has now been put to the market.
It is hoped the £4 million project will mitigate the impact of groundwater flooding after heavy rainfall hit the town's main roads last winter.
The work, which follows of ditch improvements, will see new culverts, road resurfacing and reshaping of roads to keep floodwater within kerbs.
