SOUTH Wonston couple Ken and Barbara Nash marked their recent golden wedding with a party for family and friends at the home they've lived in for 39 years.

The pair kicked off the evening's dancing with the first waltz, then talked long into the night, only getting to bed at 4am.

Barbara, 68, said that the event was also special because it was the first time they met their only great grand-daughter, five-month-old Maria Rose.

"We had lots of presents and lots of cards," added the nursing auxiliary.

Barbara and 81-year-old Ken, who used to work in the motoring industry, met on a blind date set up by friends and were married in Andover.

They went on to have two children, Chris and Clifford, and five grand-children.

"A marriage is never perfect," she confided. "There has to be give and take."
