BISHOP’S Waltham parish chiefs are drawing up a public information campaign to explain plans to build hundreds of houses in the town.

Plans for 500 new homes as part of Winchester City Council’s Local Plan Part 2 will go on show over three exhibitions on November 2, 8 and 12.

Part one of the plan identified the need for the houses to be built in Bishop’s Waltham by 2031.

Part two, due to be published in draft form in late October, will detail what kind of houses will be built and where they will go.

More than 350 homes must be built on greenfield sites around the town, according to a report which will inform the Local Plan.

Bishop’s Waltham Parish Council will ask city chiefs for £450 to hire exhibition halls and distribute newsletters to every house in the town.

The full report will account for 10,000 homes to be built across the district and is expected to be adopted in July 2016.
