A CYCLIST was seriously injured today in a crash on a busy junction at Stockbridge.

The victim in his 50s suffered injuries after a collision with a trailer on the Romsey Road near the White Hart Inn at about 10am.

He was ferried to the Royal Hampshire County Hospital, said an ambulance spokesman.

Local man Peter Boitel-Gill arrived on the scene shortly after the crash. He said today: “I was told a trailer came off a car and the cyclist had tried to avoid a pothole and at the same time been side-swiped by the trailer and he fell against the wall.

“He was lying against the wall by St Peter’s church. There was a lot of blood on his head.”

The road was partially closed.
