KINGS Worthy parish councillors have reported a decrease in the amount of dog poo left in the village.
As part of the ongoing Bag it Bin it campaign, councillors spent two weeks highlighting the problem by handing out flyers, new posters and large yellow stencils at entrances to Eversley Park.
The area has been named as a ‘hotspot’ for owners not cleaning up after their pets and any found from June 21 to July 5 was sprayed bright yellow in a bid to embarrass the offenders.
Kings Worthy Parish Council chairman Stewart Newell said: “It has been highlighted by both individual complaints and in our annual general meeting, that it is probably one of the highest concerns of residents in Kings Worthy. We were hoping that by highlighting the issue it might shame the irresponsible dog owners to act responsibly. It has embarrassed people into behaving properly.”
