• COMPTON and Shawford Parish Council are hosting an open evening with the local sports club to discuss options for the playing fields.

On March 17, from 7-9pm at the Jubilee Pavilion, residents are invited to talk about possible further improvements to the memorial playing field.

Suggestions so far have included outdoor gym equipment, golf nets, a petanque pitch, a bowling green, another tennis court and a cricket scoreboard.

  • A NEW committee is to spearhead the new Twyford Winchester Youth Club.

Following successful meetings, arranged by the Twyford Community Project, the new club was launched which saw 25 youngsters aged between 11 to 16 attend the first meeting.

The club has an exciting programme of activities planning over the next few months and meets every Friday evening at the Twyford Parish Hall from 6-8pm. The 10 week term subscription costs £25.

  • COLDEN Common Parish Council is looking for a transport volunteer representative.

A meeting in Winchester will take on Saturday, March 15, to discuss countywide bus and community services.

It will also include a review of the Hampshire Concessionary Travel Scheme.

  • HURSLEY residents are being invited to attend a seminar on crime prevention.

The Rural Crime Prevention Day, on Thursday March 27, will see members of Hampshire constabulary and the Police Crime Commissioner talk about crime in the area and provide hands-on demonstrations and specialist exhibitions.

The event will be held at the Wessex Centre at Sparsholt College between 9.30am-4pm.

  • ANYONE tempted to have a bit of a spring clean with this week’s warmer weather has been asked to donate unwanted household goods to a worthy cause.

Colden Common’s Rainbow Playgroup’s jumble sale is being held on Saturday, March 15, at the Methodist Church on Spring Lane and they need as many donations as possible.

On Thursday and Friday, March 13 and 14, between 9.30am and 11.30am residents will have the chance to donate their goods ahead of the big event or between 9-10am on the day.
