A VETERAN Alresford councillor has been elected to head up the body.
Ken Yeldham, who has clocked up 22 years service on New Alresford Town Council in two spells since 1977, was chosen as chairman of the organisation at its annual general meeting this evening (Thursday).
He pipped outgoing chairman Roy Gentry by six votes to four.

The election came on the back of criticism of Cllr Gentry's move to seek a second year as chairman.
Cllr Mark Luckham, said: "I don't believe you should stand this time. It's the practice of this council not to have the same chairman twice."
Members thanked Cllr Gentry - who was subsequently elected as vice-chairman - for all his hard work "in what has been a difficult year".
Speaking after the meeting, Cllr Yeldham, 71, who has been chairman of NATC three times before, said: "It's a great honour. I hope we can have a nice, smooth year and we'll improve the environment for Alresford."
