CONTACT the Elderly is setting up a new group in Winchester and is looking for people who have a little bit of time to spare to make a difference to the lives of elderly people in the area.
A national charity which began in 1965, Contact the Elderly now has numerous small groups around the UK. For over 40 years Contact the Elderly has been helping to relieve the loneliness and isolation so often felt by older people living alone.
Organiser Beverley Christie said: "We are looking for volunteers with cars who, once a month, could collect one or two elderly people from their homes and drive them to the host's home. Once there, guests and their volunteer drivers can enjoy a few hours of company before the drivers return the guests safely to their own homes.

"We also need volunteer hosts who would be happy, on just one or two occasions during the year, to welcome a small group of elderly guests and their volunteer drivers into their home. All it takes is a warm heart, a large teapot and a downstairs loo!"
If you can spare a little time to make a difference to the lives of elderly people in the Winchester area, call Beverley Christie on 01962 852895.
