A sex offender who absconded from HMP Leyhill has been found and arrested.
Avon and Somerset Police had begun a manhunt for Steven Chamberlain, 47, who was last seen at the minimum-security south Gloucestershire prison on Friday.
He had been jailed for offences including a serious sexual assault and members of the public were warned not to approach him but to contact police if they spotted him.
Avon and Somerset Police, who had issued an appeal to try and find him, later said in a
statement: “Prison absconder Steven Chamberlain has been located and arrested.
“We’d like to thank everyone who assisted us by sharing our original appeal.”
