A low-cost open-top sightseeing bus service has been launched in London.
Coach operator Megabus says tickets for its tours are available from just £1, equivalent to “2p a sight”.
Journeys involve a two-hour circuit of the capital without stopping to pick up additional passengers.
This is unlike existing sightseeing bus firms which offer a hop-on, hop-off service, with adult ticket prices starting from around £26.
Buses will be fully or partially open-top, and emblazoned with the face of Megabus mascot Sid.
A pre-recorded commentary will be provided through interior speakers.
The Stagecoach-owned company’s managing director Mark Venables said: “This is a very exciting venture for both megabus.com and for tourists visiting or staycationing within the UK.
“With such incredible low-cost value fares, it makes sightseeing in London affordable to all pockets.”
Megabus coach ads offering fares from £1 were banned last month after the firm admitted as few as one seat per journey was available for the price.
The Advertising Standards Authority said consumers would understand that not all tickets would be priced at £1, but would expect to be able to find the “from” price across a range of dates if they booked in advance.
Megabus said the number of fares available at £1 for any given route varied due to many factors, such as the number of intermediary stops and the number of tickets booked for the partial and full routes.
