AS mayoral engagements go, it had a bigger slice of rock and roll than most.
Winchester mayor Cllr Barry Lipscomb visited the guitar store and workshop of Christine and Brian Hayward.
Their firm in Stockbridge Road has supplied a host of Winchester bands and artists past and present.
Not only does the store sell new guitars, but also repairs six-strings and basses that have been ‘wounded’ in the line of duty.
The Haywards met the mayor at an event at his official residence, Abbey House, earlier this year.
He expressed an interest in their work, especially the repairs painstakingly carried out by Mr Hayward in his workshop.
As a result, the mayor came to visit the firm on Monday (April 2) to see how the skilled work takes place.
