AN evening to raise funds for Winchester Mencap is taking place at the city’s Discovery Centre.

Special guest will be Dame Harriet Walter, who has worked on screen and with the Royal Shakespeare Company.

Her film credits include Sense and Sensibility, Atonement and Babel. On television, she has featured in Little Dorrit, Ballet Shoes, The Men's Room, Law and Order: UK and Unfinished Business.

On stage, she has received Laurence Olivier theatre awards for her performances in Twelfth Night and Three Sisters.

She will be in conversation with Debbie Thrower on Sunday, March 4 from 7 to 9pm.

The evening will start with wine and canapés, and finish with a question and answer session.

Tickets cost £15 and proceeds go to Winchester Mencap, which supports the Blue Apple Theatre company.

Jane Jessop, who chairs Blue Apple Theatre, said: “We are very much looking forward to our evening with Dame Harriet Walter and are delighted she is so keen to support the work we are doing.

“It’s especially encouraging that such an established and celebrated actress is taking so much interest in the work of Blue Apple Theatre.”
