A Winchester family were burgled while putting up Christmas decorations in their home.

Thieves struck at a home in Baring Road, St Giles’s Hill, while the occupants were in another room decorating the Christmas tree.

Police believe the burglars entered the property through the back door into the kitchen between 4pm and 6pm on Sunday, December 18.

A black 16GB iPhone 4 and a briefcase containing a silver and black iPad 2 were the only things taken but the family did not see or hear anything.

PC Craig Robinson, investigating, said: “I would like to hear from anyone who saw anything suspicious in the St Giles Hill area of the city on December 18.

“I would also like to hear from anyone who has been offered such items for sale.”

Anyone with information should contact PC Robinson at Winchester Police Station on 101 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
