THEATRE regulars in Winchester may be surprised to see a familiar face on the telly this Christmas.
Downton Abbey viewers can spot Chesil Theatre stalwart Charlie Seligman, who scooped a spot on the ITV drama’s Christmas special.
Charlie is well known at the Winchester theatre, playing roles including Uncle Alan in Tom’s Midnight Garden and Charlie Babcock in Charlie’s Aunt.
His role in the international hit is less glamorous as he portrays a loader for Lord Grantham, played by Hugh Bonneville.
He said: “The stars of Downtown proved really friendly and I even managed to tell Hugh Bonneville and Samantha Bond about our fund-raising efforts to make the Chesil’s development plans a reality.”
Charlie, who works at Savills estate agents’ in Winchester, added: “I had a fascinating insight into the hard work and commitment that goes into making Downton such a successful and much-loved show”.
The Downton Abbey Christmas special is broadcast on Christmas Day, ITV 9pm.
