ALL the fun of the fair, or more accurately the Boomtown Fair, is coming to Winchester next month (August).

A host of musical acts, chiefly with a ska and reggae flavour, will be playing the Matterley Bowl on the city’s eastern outskirts.

Around 10,000 people are expected to attend the four day event, and fewer than 1,000 tickets were left at the time of going to press.

Running from Thursday, August 11 to Sunday, August 14, the established event will be coming to Winchester for the first time.

Organisers are already making plans to avoid the traffic mayhem that was caused by the JLS show at the ‘bowl in June.

Instead of a one-night event, Boomtown Fair will be spread over four days and a different traffic management plan will be in place.

The acts already confirmed for the show, which will be spread across several stages in a fenced compound, will include Bad Manners.

Also look out for Goldie Lookin Chain, Ms Dynamite and Smerins Anti Social Club, which first came to prominence on the Southampton music scene.

Entry costs £93 per person for the weekend including camping. All reduced price tickets for teenagers and caravan passes have already sold out.
