THERE are just a few days to go before the second Alresford Music Festival gets off the ground.

It will be headlined by Dodgy, who will be entertaining the crowds with such hits as Good Enough and Staying Out for the Summer.

The bill also includes a host of Hampshire-based bands who will be appearing on two stages at the Perins School playing fields.

Electronic duo Capital X from Winchester will be there along with fast-rising rock band Til Dusk from Southampton.

Indie band Audio Guns and bluegrass group North Drive, who both hail from Winchester, are due to perform too.

Those who enjoy a bit of ska might want to check out The Skore, and the bill also includes Southampton-based covers band The Hattie Jacques Playlist.

Also look out for Winchester-based singer and songwriter Ben Goddard, along with accomplished guitarist Lachlan Horne and his tribute to Jimi Hendrix.

Other acts on the bill include RattleWreck, Karma Suns, The Elizans, Denovo, Press Gang, Jambo Reign and Reactor 1.

The festival’s website - www.alresfordmusicfestival.com – has samples recorded by every band for those who want to listen before the event.

As an added incentive to go, tickets prices are lower this by 25 per cent compared to the inaugural festival last summer.

An all-day pass is £15 per person while a family pass costs £40 and student discounts are also available.

The festival is the brainchild of event chairman Ken Veitch, who first had the idea of staging a festival in Alresford in 2007.

Thanks to sponsorship from First Option, it was held for the first time last year, and the firm has agreed to support the event again.

Defensa International is also backing this year’s showcase, and the organisers are hoping to run it again in 2012.

This year’s Alresford Music Festival takes place on Saturday, June 18 and the gates will be open from 11am until midnight.
