A Winchester grandmother who dedicated years of her life to helping the Royal British Legion has died.

Jean Tate, 78, from Kings Worthy, had been a member of the charity for around 20 years and was treasurer at her local branch.

Born in Abingdon, she lived in the Winchester area all her life and had two children and three grandchildren.

One of her granddaughters, Gemma Angell, said: “We are all in shock that she has died, but we are going to miss her a lot as she could always make you laugh.”

Her funeral will be held at St Mary’s Church, Kings Worthy, on Monday, February 7 at 12.30pm.
