Winchester police are launching a pilot scheme to tackle the chronic problem of thefts from cars.

The scheme has been introduced in the district of Winchester – also covering Bishops Waltham, Alresford, Twyford and Meon Valley.

It has a dedicated officer, PC Stuart Turner, based at North Walls police station in Winchester, who will work closely with crime prevention officer Tanya Thompson.

The aim of this pilot is to work with the public and multi-agency partners to raise awareness and highlight simple preventative measures.

An information pack is available, which includes guidance regarding security and property marking, a UV pen with security stickers to mark property, and a list of Park Mark ™ (Safer Parking Scheme) car parks in Winchester.

If you have any information regarding vehicle crime in the Winchester district contact PC Turner via e-mail at stuart.turner@hampshire.pnn.police.uk, or on direct dial 01962 875 060.
