A PROPERTY company has met Winchester civic chiefs to discuss the Silver Hill scheme.
Hammersons is working with the administrator of Thornfield Ventures on saving the £100 million scheme to revamp a part of the city centre.
It has been thrown into jeopardy because the Thornfield Ventures collapse has paralysed Thornfield Properties which was working on the Winchester scheme.
Steve Tilbury, operations director at the city council, said of the meeting: It was ‘hello, we are Hammersons and we are looking around the area’.They will be advising the administrators on Silver Hill and whether they should look to progress it.”
Mr Tilbury added: “Thornfield Properties is not itself in administration, but not in a position to move the scheme forward. At the moment we can’t talk to them.We are talking to the administrators.”
The city council is hopeful that although Thornfield is in trouble, the Silver Hill scheme, for new shops, flats, bus station and parking, will be attractive to other developers.
