DEVELOPERS have finally submitted the long-awaited plans for the huge Barton Farm development in Winchester.
Cala Homes has applied to the city council for permission to build 2,000 homes on farmland on the northern edge of the city.
It is their second attempt at developing the land having an earlier effort rebuffed by planners.
The details of the plans has been well-publicised with public exhibitions in Winchester in October.
The biggest change has seen the re-routing of Andover Road through the development which will also have shops, a school, health and leisure facilities.
Campaigners are also gearing up for the battle. The Save Barton Farm Group staged a march through Winchester which attracted 600 people.
