PUPILS and staff rolled back the years in order to celebrate their school’s 150th anniversary.
Twyford St Mary's Church of England Primary School, in Twyford, marked the milestone with staff and pupils dressed as Victorians – with everything from street urchins to chimney sweeps offered up.
In the week leading up to the event, the children had been doing activities about how Victorian schoolchildren were taught and on the day they were able to do Victorian handwriting, sewing and handbell ringing.
Pupils, aged between four and 11, then played Victorian games with marbles and skipping ropes as well as having a go at the coconut shy stall.
A 150th cake was also made to celebrate the anniversary this month (September).
School governor Sarah Hawkins said: “A large amount of effort has gone into making the week special.
“The children seemed to enjoy themselves and the parents had gone to a lot of time and trouble.
“It was a wonderful celebration.”
