A GOLD star it seems for two teachers leaving a local primary school.
Owslebury Primary School has bid farewell to Mrs Pauline Gilbert and Mrs Petra Sansome with gifts from parents and staff, and artwork to remind them of their time at the school from the children.
Mrs Gilbert was at the school for 16 years with 11 of them as the year 5/6 teacher. She also coached the netball team who were unbeaten last year.
She said: “There have been many highlights for me during my time teaching classes of delightful children. I have really enjoyed taking them on school visits, especially our residential weeks to Stubbington Study Centre.”
Mrs Sansome worked as a learning support assistant (LSA) for 10 years, mainly supporting Reception class, working with children on phonics, artwork and other activities.
She said: “I have mixed feelings about leaving – I will miss the children but I’m looking forward to new opportunities.”
Headteacher Elena Ponsen said: “Pauline and Petra have both been a phenomenal part of the Owslebury team and we will miss them.”
