STUDENTS at a Winchester school went on a trip of a lifetime to Ghana.
The Westgate pupils helped two Ghanaian schools improve their ICT resources by taking 27 refurbished laptops donated by Hampshire County Council.
The laptops will enable pupils in the school to have practical computing lessons.
Previously, ICT lessons were theory only, with pupils having to learn the moves and keys of a computer from a book and the blackboard. Now classes will have access to shared laptops and be able to practise their keyboard skills and use software packages for real.
The Westgate School also raised £1000 which was used to pay for the materials for windows and doors to finish two kindergarten classrooms which can now be used so the classes are not held outside.
