SHE could go on to become one of Britain's brightest young lawyers.

Chyna Fairclough, a student at Peter Symonds College in Winchester, won the prestigious UBS Award for Outstanding Students 2015 as well as claiming a conditional offer from the Cameron McKenna Bursary Scheme.

It means Chyna will receive a £2,500 bursary for each year of her undergraduate law degree course if she achieves ABB grades or equivalent.

The upper-sixth student, who hopes to read law at Cambridge University, said: "To win both a bursary and the UBS award made me feel immensely proud and has given me both the confidence and inspiration to pursue my ambition of entering the legal profession.

"Although I found the latter round of the essay competition a daunting prospect, being interviewed by legal professionals and getting to participate in a negotiation workshop was actually rather enjoyable.

"I was extremely pleased when I found out that CMS had chosen to support me throughout my degree from hundreds of applicants.

"Then to discover that I had been nominated for and won the award for outstanding students was just the icing on top of the cake. The awards evening was incredible and it was great to meet the other winners, all of whom had a number of impressive achievements to their name."

A move to Hampshire in 2012 meant Chyna started at Amery Hill School in Year 11 on a completely different GCSE syllabus for all her subjects.

In spite of this she achieved outstanding GCSE results, and it is efforts such as these that have helped her to land the bursary and UBS award.
