A NEW initiative to encourage children and parents to walk to school will be launched in Kings Worthy.

The school travel planning team at Hampshire County Council is working with Kings Worthy Primary School to reduce the number of cars at the gates for drop off and pick up.

A ‘Park and Stride’ route is already in operation from Eversley Park Recreation Ground, which allows parents to park their cars and walk the final five minutes to school.

Now a new way is being launched from the community centre in Fraser Road.

The official launch is on Wednesday, March 18, at 8.20am where children will walk the route to school dressed as explorers.

Theatre company, Histrionics, will lead the procession before giving two performances about active travel later in the morning.
