FORMER deputy boss of the BBC Mark Byford will give a lecture in Winchester later this month on his new book.

Mr Byford will talk about A Name on a Wall: Two Men, Two Wars and Two Destinies.

It contrasts the story of Mr Byford’s father in World War Two with an American soldier killed in the Vietnam War.

The free public lecture is part of Winchester University Institute of Theological Partnerships’s contribution to the anniversary of the outbreak of World War One.

Before retirement Mr Byford, who lives in Winchester, was a deputy director general of the BBC.

The lecture is on Wednesday January 21 at 6.30pm for 7pm in West Downs Room 2, Romsey Road.
