EASTLEIGH College lecturers say they are “over the moon” after their department was nominated for three awards.

The Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Department is a finalist for the Training Provider of the Year at the National ACR Awards 2015, Training Initiative Award at the National ACR Awards 2015, which is a joint nomination with DCI Refrigeration, and ACR Trainee of the Year Awards 2014 for Joseph Conroy, Eastleigh College student.

The National ACR Awards celebrate and promote the innovations, achievements and excellence of teams, organisations and individuals based on their merits within the industry.

In the Training Provider of the Year category the college will compete against the likes of Samsung and Toshiba.

Lecturer and assessor at the college, Shaun Creech, said: “We are over the moon to have been nominated for such a prestigious set of awards. We work hard to ensure that our students have a fantastic range of opportunities as part of our programmes, and it is great to know that this is recognised by the industry.”

Head of technology, Alison Leaverland, said: “I was not surprised when I received news of all of the RAC team’s nominations; they are constantly pushing boundaries and working ever harder for their students. I very much look forward to hearing the results.”

The results will be announced over the coming months.
