THE University of Winchester has been shortlisted for a national higher education award for its Street Arts programme.
The programme was selected in the Excellence and Innovation in Arts category of the Times Higher Education Awards 2014.
Since the Bachelor of Arts degree programme began it has attracted funding from a range of professional projects and forged a number of European partnerships, generating opportunities for students and graduates to gain work experience.
John Lee, senior lecturer in Street Arts at the University of Winchester, said: “The Street Arts programme has pioneered its place both within the performing arts educational provision in the UK and also through creating a strong impact on street arts education and practice in the UK.
“I’m thrilled that we’re shortlisted for Excellence and Innovation in the Arts. It’s a great way to showcase our contribution to the sector and our hard work growing and developing street arts at Winchester.”
The winners of the 10th annual Times Higher Education Awards will be announced on November 27 at an awards ceremony held in Grosvenor House Hotel in London.
Earlier this year, the University of Winchester’s Estates team was shortlisted for the Times Higher Education Leadership and Management Awards 2014.
