ARTY students in Winchester are celebrating their final projects with a special exhibition.

Winchester School of Art postgraduates are showing the very best of their work in fashion and textiles, communication design and fine art at the campus on Park Avenue.

The exhibition, which runs until Saturday, September 6, is open from 10am-8pm Monday to Friday and 11am-4pm on Saturdays.

Programme leader for fine art, Nick Stewart, said: “It’s a very mixed course. We have got students from all over the world, particularly from the Far East as we have quite a big exchange programme with them. Nearly half [of our students] are Chinese so it brings a lot of diversity to the course.

“Chinese students in particular are highly respectful of traditional values; perhaps more than those with a British education have been in recent generations.

"We provide a place that they can think more freely and that’s what they come here for. They have a really good experience they take back and we get a lot of surprising work.

“Every year is different and we have a huge diversity of work. There’s a particularly strong group this year of painters.”
