SOME of the county’s best chefs and food producers made their way to Sparsholt College this weekend.

It was all in the name of good food as they celebrated the Hampshire Fare Food festival.

There were workshops for all ages to learn about food, its origins and cookery, including demonstrations from Andy Mackenzie and Olly Rouse (Lainston House), Luke Matthews (Chewton Glen) and James Golding (The Pig), amongst others.

Organiser Phillip Holroyd-Smith said: “The sun most definitely shone on Sparsholt on Saturday and what a day we had with at least 1,600 people. There were 30 exhibitors, numerous workshops, Hampshire’s leading chefs in the cookery theatre as well as children’s activities – it really was a food and drinks fest that celebrated the best of the county.

“The college’s library garden looked beautiful providing the perfect backdrop, we had plant sales in our horticulture department and the fish department sold an abundance of trout and barramundi. All in all, a brilliant day out for the whole family.”
