STUDENTS from the University of Winchester have been helping Age Concern Hampshire to organise a services event for the over 50s.
Event management students helped to organise the event, which took place in the Meridian Shopping Centre in Havant, aimed to introduce older residents to the support available from the charity.
There was an exhibition of black and white photography and demonstrations to help people make the most of technology.
Students volunteered to gain practical experience as part of their course – they worked with Age Concern Hampshire to publicise the event, arrange exhibition stands and organise refreshments.
Emma Nolan, programme leader for BA event management at the University of Winchester, said: “We partner with lots of organisations so that students get to work with real clients and deliver events for them – this gives them real purpose. The event aimed to raise awareness of Age Concern Hampshire’s services to users and potential users across the county. Our students helped achieve this.”
