Police name fatal accident victim

AN elderly woman who died when she was knocked over by a lorry has been named by police.

Audrey Boxall, 77, of Lawn Road, Eastleigh, suffered fatal injuries in a collision with a red Mercedes LGV travelling towards Eastleigh along Twyford Road at about 12.30pm on Wednesday, April 23.

The driver of the lorry, a 59-year-old man from Romsey, was left shaken but uninjured. He was arrested and has since been bailed until June 12 on suspicion of causing death by careless driving while unfit through drink or drugs.

Acting Inspector Paul Newman, from the Totton Roads Policing Unit, said: "I am appealing for anyone who may have witnessed this incident to contact police.

"This is a busy area of Eastleigh, and I'm hoping someone may have seen either the lorry or the pedestrian prior to the collision."

Anyone with information should call Acting Insp Newman, quoting Operation Calkin, on 0845 045 45 45, or anonymously through Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
