MORE than 300 homes on the Pirelli site in Eastleigh with a thousand residents were affected by a blocked sewer yesterday (April 16).
Eastleigh MP Chris Huhne described the people who blocked the key town sewer as "stupid and mindless vandals" as emergency pumps were brought in to clear the back-up.
The blockage had been building for up to a week according to experts brought in by Barratts.

Mr Huhne said: "This stupid and mindless vandalism has caused untold worry and worse for the households on the Pirelli estate."
Mr Huhne visited the site with Cllr Glynn Davies-Dear and Cllr Chris Thomas to see the blocked drain overflowing into the Century development site on Leigh Road. A pump was brought in to pump sewerage into the unblocked part of the sewerage system.
Mr Huhne said: "Rubble seems to have been shovelled into the sewerage system, blocking the main sewer from the entire Pirelli development. With emergency pumping, households should be able to use their bathrooms normally and the blockage should be cleared soon.
"It is highly irresponsible to tamper with key services in this way, and I hope those who did it now realise the trouble that they have caused. If anyone knows who was to blame, I hope they will come forward to the police".
