IT was not a sight for the faint-hearted...
Students at Barton Peveril College, in Eastleigh, got to grips with a special- effects and make-up workshop to learn how the blood and gore we see on screen is made to look so real.
Don Hendy, head of media development at the University of Winchester, gave them a taster of a course unit offered to undergraduates at the university.
As well as working on their own special-effects projects, students helped to create a life-cast of a vocational media lecturer and learnt about the process involved in developing and designing prosthetics for the face.
Mr Hendy said: “Sixth- form students don’t always realise that the film industry is very practically based, so it’s great to have an opportunity to get out and spread the word.”
