BURGLARS smashed their way into a home near Winchester but fled after setting off an alarm.
They broke in through a rear first-floor window of the home near the junction of Church Lane and Highbridge Road in Brambridge. Police are appealing for witnesses to the incident, which happened between 7-8pm on Monday (February 1).
Officers believe the burglars ran off along Church Lane. They said a blue car was seen leaving the Dog and Crook pub at speed around the time of the incident.
PC Andrew Bates, of Winchester police, said: “I would like to hear from anyone who saw anyone acting suspiciously in the area on Monday evening.
“In particular I would like to speak to anyone who saw a small blue hatchback vehicle being driven out of the Dog and Crook car park.
“We believe the offenders may have parked this vehicle at the pub and then used it to get away from the scene, so if anyone saw it I would urge them to get in touch with us.”
Anyone with any information should contact PC Bates at North Walls police station in Winchester on 0845 045 45 45 or contact the anonymous Crimestoppers charity on 0800 555 111.
