LONG tailbacks are building up on a Hampshire motorway after an accident.

The crash involving four cars blocked two lanes and is causing delays of up to an hour and a half.

No one was seriously hurt, but a 44-year-old woman complaining of back pain was taken to Royal Hampshire County Hospital in Winchester.

Southbound drivers using the M3 have been hit by hold-ups following the accident between junctions 11 and 12 at Eastleigh.

There are queues as far back as Basingstoke, with further congestion on the A34 north of junction 9 at Winnall.

People slowing down to look at the crash are also causing delays on northbound lanes of the motorway, as well as the M27 eastbound on the M3 approach.

All lanes were reopened by 9.05am but delays were expected to continue.

The crash involved a black hatchback, black 4x4, white BMW saloon and dark blue saloon with a heavily damaged front.
