SOUTHAMPTON Airport is celebrating after it was recognised for the economic boost it gives the county.

Staff scooped a special award at the Solent Business Awards for their 'outstanding contribution to Hampshire' over the past 25 years. The awards ceremony was attended by more than 200 business leaders.

On presenting the award, Malcolm Hyde, CBI South East, said the airport added more than £100m to the local economy.

Dave Lees, managing director of Southampton Airport, said: "This airport is famous for its high levels of customer service and this is a reflection on the great team work that takes place amongst the 30 different companies and over 1000 people that work here.”
