HAMPSHIRE firms are set to pitch for contracts worth millions of pounds at a matchmaking event tomorrow.

Meet the Buyer brings together procurement officers and local suppliers in sectors from engineering and architecture to web design.

Last year's event at the Ageas Bowl triggered deals worth more than £6 million and Hampshire Chamber of Commerce hopes to match that on October 22.

Chief executive Stewart Dunn said: “Meet the Buyer has a proven track record of supporting the supply chains in a diverse range of sectors.

“It's an ideal chance for small and medium sized businesses across Hampshire and the Isle of Wight to meet major buyers in person on the same day in the same place.

“For procurement teams, it is an easy, direct way to source competitive deals on the essential products and services they need for their organisations.”

Software matching suppliers to relevant buyers is used to arrange one-to-one meetings, and firms can take part in free sales training and a business clinic led by Solent Growth Hub.

The event has been arranged by the chamber for the past three years with funding from councils across Hampshire.

Suppliers and buyers can register online at http://meetthebuyer.biz/south15/supplier.php or by emailing meetthebuyer@hampshirechamber.co.uk.
