RAIL commuters face long delays this morning after a train derailed at Eastleigh.
A freight train has become stranded near Eastleigh and is expected to stay in place for a number of hours.
Currently, delays of up to 30 minutes on services through the area are being reported.
Although trains to and from Southampton are running, they all need express permission to pass through the Eastleigh area, which will lead to delays on all services.
Meanwhile, CrossCountry services are subject to alterations between Southampton Central and Reading.
Also as a result of the incident, trains between London Waterloo and Portsmouth Harbour via Eastleigh will terminate at Eastleigh, trains between Romsey and Salisbury via Eastleigh will not run and a shuttle will run between Eastleigh and Portsmouth.
The incident has resulted in a train blocking a set of points in the Eastleigh area and delays are likely to continue until around Noon.
