A SHOP worker has spoken of the moment she confronted a thief as he tried to make a run from a Fair Oak store.

At around 12.30pm on Sunday, November 30, a man walked into the Co-op on Spring Lane, and took two jars of jam, worth £1.16 each, without paying for them.

The worker, who asked not to be named, described how she challenged the man, who denied taking the jores, swore and pushed her as he fled.

She was unharmed but shaken by the incident, adding: “I wouldn't have fought him. He didn't need to get physical with me.”

Police would like to hear from anyone who recognises the man from the CCTV image or this description: White 30-to-40-year-old male with brown receiding hair, wearing a black hooded top with a white logo on the front. He also wore beige combat trousers, dark brown boots and a green rucksack.

Anyone with information is asked to call PC Matthew Williams at Eastleigh police station on 101 or the anonymous Crimestoppers charity on 0800 555 111.
